The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving Post Balapitiya public beach saved two foreigners during a successful rescue attempt on 01st February 2023.
A 53-years old Russian female and 49 years old Armenian male were rescued by Coast Guard rescuers at lifesaving post Balapitiya beach whilst at risk of drowning at sea. The expeditious response by skilled Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers managed to save these foreigners from drowning despite the heavy current in the area.
So far in 2023, Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers attached to 16 life-saving posts around the country have rescued a total of 15 invaluable lives including 9 foreigners in a number of successful rescue attempts.
