SRI LANKA COAST GUARD SHIP SAMARAKSHA CELEBRATES THE SIXTH ANNIVERSARY
The Sri Lanka Coast Guard Ship (SLCGS) Samaraksha celebrated her sixth anniversary on 29th August 2024. The celebration included a Bodhi Pooja Pinkama and beach cleaning programme, emphasizing religiousness, spirituality, environmental care and camaraderie.
SLCG PERSONS APPREHENDED SHARK CARCASSES AT WELLAMANKARA FISHERY HARBOUR
The Coast Guard persons attached to the Fishing Monitoring Point (FMP) Wellamankara apprehended 11 carcasses of Oceanic White Tip sharks(without fins) while unloading the fishing harvest of IMUL-A-0064-KMN fishing trawler at Wellamankara Fishery Harbour on 16th August 2024 around 0430 hrs.

On 15th August 2024, the U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Her Excellency Julie J. Chung officially inaugurated the Ship in a Box project at the Advanced Training Centre (ATC) in Kirinda. Sri Lanka Coast Guard Seizes Four Numbers of Indian Dhows upon Poaching
A successful operation lead by Sri Lanka Coast Guard Ship Suraksha resulted in apprehended of 4 Indian dhows with 35 Indian fishermen involved in illegal fishing in Sri Lankan waters. This special operation took place in off Kudiramalei Point in Kalpitiya sea on 08th of August 2024.
