In a significant step towards enhancing maritime rescue operations, the Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) has introduced a specially designed rescue basket, an innovative solution conceptualized under the directive of the Director General of SLCG, Rear Admiral Rajapriya Serasinghe. This newly developed rescue basket fabricated by the engineering department SLCG, is capable of rescuing and securing up to seven persons at a time.
This Rescue basket can be easily carried onboard ships and towed using a vessel, making it a versatile and practical addition to SLCG’s search and rescue (SAR) capabilities. This development will enhance in maritime safety efforts, reaffirming SLCG’s commitment to protecting lives at sea.
