Wasantha Udanaya 2025: A Vibrant New Years’ Celebration of Sri Lanka Coast Guard

The Sri Lanka Coast Guard Headquarters joyously celebrated the Sinhala and Tamil New Year with a grand festival titled “Wasantha Udanaya 2025” on 10^th April at Mirissa beach front. The event was graced by the Director General of the Coast Guard, Rear Admiral Rajapriya Serasinghe and witnessed the enthusiastic participation of Coast Guard officers, sailors, their family members, civilians from nearby communities, and even foreign visitors to the area.

The day began with a lively beach run at dawn followed by variety of traditional New Year games bringing together people of all ages, including children and tourists who joined the festivities with great interest. The festival concluded in the evening with a dazzling “Awurudu Kumara and Kumari”, a charming showcase of beauty, confidence, and cultural pride.
