CAPTAIN HEMANTHA RANASINGHE ASSUMES DUTIES AS COMMANDING OFFICER OF SLCG OFFSHORE PATROL VESSEL “SURAKSHA”

Captain Hemantha Ranasinghe officially assumed duties as the new Commanding Officer of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Offshore patrol vessel (OPV) SLCG Suraksha on 13^th June 2025.

SLCG Suraksha, one of the key deep-sea surveillance vessels operated by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard, plays a crucial role in maritime security operations. The official handing-over ceremony took place onboard the vessel, which is currently berthed alongside the Cross Berth Jetty at the Colombo Port.

Captain Kalum Marambage, the outgoing Commanding Officer, formally handed over responsibilities to Captain Hemantha Ranasinghe during the ceremony.

The occasion was attended by Deputy Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard, Commodore Manoj Leelarathna, along with several senior officers and crew members. Following the ceremonial proceedings, the new Commanding Officer conducted a division inspection, marking the formal conclusion of the event.
