SRI LANKA COAST GUARD SEIZES 900KG OF KERALA CANNABIS AND FIREARMS
The Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) with the assistance of Navy and Police narcotics bureau seized approximately 900 kg’s of Kerala cannabis along with two Pistols, four magazines and 40 live rounds of ammunition in the morning of 02nd July 2025.
The arrest was made in the Bolawatta area of Wennappuwa, where the contraband was being transported in a TATA cab by two persons. Upon inspection, SLCG personnel discovered the cannabis packed into 22 large sacks. The suspects and items were taken into custody and handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau for further investigation and legal action.
This successful operation highlights the continued efforts of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard in combating illegal drug trafficking.

ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළාරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව විසින් ශ්රී ලංකා නාවික හමුදාව සහ පොලිස් මත්ද්රව්ය නාශක කාර්යංශයේද සහය ඇතිව පාර්සල් 22ක අසුරන ලද කිලෝ ග්රෑම් නවසියයක (900 kg)පමණ කේරල කංසා තොගයක්, විදෙස් රටක නිෂ්පාදිත පිස්තෝල අවි දෙකක්(02), මැගසින් හතරක්(04), කැබ් රථයක්(01) සහ එම ජාවාරමට සම්බන්ධ මෝටර් රථයක් සමග සැකකරුවන් දෙදෙනා (02) වෙන්නප්පුව, බෝලවත්ත ප්රදේශයේදි සිදුකල විශේෂ සෝදිසි මෙහෙයුමකදි අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනිමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි.
ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළාරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවට ලද බුද්ධි තොරතුරකට අනුව මෙම විශේෂ මෙහෙයුම සිදුකරන ලද අතර, අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් පිරිස සහ ද්රව්යයන් වැඩිදුර විමර්ශනය සහ නීතිමය කටයුතු සඳහා පොලිස් මත්ද්රව්ය නාශක කාර්යංශය වෙත භාරදෙන ලදි.
මත්ද්රව්ය රට තුලට රැගෙන ඒම වැලැක්වීම සඳහා ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළාරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව ගනු ලබමින් සිටින අඛණ්ඩ උත්සාහයේ තවත් එක් අවස්ථාවක් ලෙස මෙය දැක්විය හැක.
