The Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG), in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN), conducted a special search operation in the sea area of Maoya Moya, Chilaw, on 28th October 2025. During the operation, the SLCG seized approximately 309 kilograms of Kendu leaves that had been attempted to be smuggled illegally into the country, along with a dinghy boat.
Based on information received by the SLCG Sub Station, Chilaw, Coast Guard and Navy personnel carried out this special operation in the Maoya Moya sea area. During the operation, searched a dinghy boat that was believed to have been abandoned after failing to bring it ashore due to SLCG operations. Inside the boat, eight sacks containing 309 kilograms and 100 grams of Kendu leaves were found. The consignment and the dinghy were subsequently taken into custody by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard.
The seized Kendu leaves and the dinghy boat were handed over to the SLNS Kelani for further investigations and legal action.
ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව නාවික හමුදාව හා එක්ව හලාවත මාඔය මෝය මුහුදු ප්රදේශයේ 2025 ඔක්තෝබර් මස 28 වැනි දින සවස් කාලයේ සිදුකල විශේෂ සෝදිසි මෙහෙයුමක් මඟින්, නීති විරෝධී ලෙස මෙරටට රැගෙන ඒමට උත්සාහ කල බීඩි කොළ කිලෝ ග්රෑම් 309 ට අධික ප්රමාණයක් සහ ඩිංගි යාත්රාවක් (01) වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි.
ඒ අනුව, ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවට අයත් වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක අනුඛණ්ඩ හලාවත වෙත ලද තොරතුරකට අනුව වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක පුද්ගලයින් සහ නාවික හමුදා පුද්ගලයින් එක්ව හලාවත මාඔය මෝය මුහුදු ප්රදේශය ආශ්රිතව සිදුකල මෙම විශේෂ සෝදිසි මෙහෙයුම් හමුවේ ගොඩබිමට රැගෙන ඒමට නොහැකිව අතහැරදැමූ බවට සැක කෙරෙන ඩිංගි යාත්රාවක් තුල අසුරා තිබූ උර අටක් (08) තුල බහා තිබූ කිලෝ ග්රෑම් 309 ග්රෑම් 100 පමණ බරින් යුත් එම බිඩිකොල තොගය සහ ඩිංගි යාත්රාව වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව විසින් අත්අඩංගුවට ගන්නා ලදි.
අත්අඩංගුවට ගන්නා ලද බීඩිකොල තොගය සහ ඩිංගි යාත්රාව වැඩිදුර විමර්ශන සහ ඉදිරි නීතිමය කටයුතු සදහා යොමුකිරීමට ශ්රී ලංකා නාවික නෞකා කැළණි ආයතනය වෙත භාරදීම සිදු කෙරිණි.
