Coast Guard personnel arrested two (02) suspects along with a large stock of illegally smuggled banned agrochemicals in Ranminithenna and Kirinda areas on 02nd January 2026.
The arrests were made in connection with the possession of a large quantity of banned foreign manufactured agrochemicals in violation of the provisions stipulated in the Pesticides Act No. 33 of 1980. The special operation was conducted with the assistance of the Department of Agriculture, Hambantota. During the search, 732 packets and 21 bottles of banned agrochemicals were taken in to custody.
The seized agrochemicals and the two (02) suspects were handed over to the Department of Agriculture, Hambantota, for further investigation and legal proceedings.

හම්බන්තොට කෘෂීකර්ම පර්යේෂණ නිලධාරීන් හා එක්ව කිරින්ද සහ රන්මිණිතැන්න ප්රදේශයේ සිදුකල මෙම විශේෂ සෝදිසි මෙහෙයුම් වලදී, වෙළඳසැල් දෙකක් (02) තුල සූක්ෂම ලෙස සඟවා අලෙවි කිරීම සඳහා සූදානම් කර තිබූ කෘමිනාශක සහ වල්නාශක පැකට් 732ක් සහ බෝතල් 21ක් අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි.
මෙම සැකකරුවන් සහ කෘෂි රසායනික ද්රව්ය තොගය, ඉදිරි විමර්ෂණ සහ නීතිමය කටයුතු සඳහා හම්බන්තොට කෘෂිකර්ම පර්යේෂණ නිලධාරීන් වෙත භාරදීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි.
