The Sri Lanka Coast Guard arrested a person who was engaged in cultivating cannabis plants during a coordinated search operation carried out in Tissamaharama on 06th January 2026
The Coast Guard personnel in coordination with the Tissamaharama Police arrested the suspect along with 26 local cannabis plants.
The suspect, together with the seized cannabis plants, was handed over to the Tissamaharama Police for onward legal action.
වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව 2026 ජනවාරි මස 06 වන දින තිස්සමාහාරාම පොලීසිය හා එක්ව සිදුකල වැටලීමකදි තිස්සමහාරාම, කිරින්ද ප්රදේශයේ රහසිගතව දේශීය ගංජා වගාකළ සැකකරුවෙක් (01) අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි.
මෙරට මත්ද්රව්ය ව්යසනය මැඩලීම වෙනුවෙන් වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව සිය සක්රීය දායකත්වය නිරන්තරයෙන් ලබා දෙනු ලබයි. ඒ අනුව, තිස්සමහාරාම පොලීසිය හා එක්ව 2026 ජනවාරි මස 06 වන දින සිදුකළ මෙම වැටලිමේදි නීති විරෝධී ලෙස වගාකළ දේශිය ගංජා පැළ 26ක් සමඟ පුද්ගලයෙකු මෙලෙස අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනිමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි.
එලෙස අත්අඩංගුවට ගන්නා ලද ගංජා පැල තොගය, සමඟ අදාළ සැකකරු ඉදිරි නිතිමය කටයුතු සඳහා තිස්සමහාරාම පොලීසිය වෙත භාරදීමට කටයුතු කරන ලදි.
