Based on intelligence received, Coast Guard personnel arrested two (02) individuals in possession of 3,400 foreign cigarettes, over 80 liters of locally made alcoholic spirits, 18 barrels of moonshine, and over three (3) grams of hashish in Negambo,Chilaw and Weligama area on 09th January 2026.
These arrests were made during a special search operation conducted in coordination with officers of the Police Narcotic Bureau and the Special Task Force.
The arrested individuals, along with the seized cigarettes, alcohol, moonshine, and hashish, were handed over to the Negombo, Chilaw, and Weligama Police stations for further investigations and legal action.
ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවට ලද තොරතුරු මත 2026 ජනවාරි මස 09 වන දින පොලිස් මත්ද්රව්ය නාශක කාර්යංශය සහ විශේෂ කාර්ය්ය බළකාය එක්ව මීගමුව, හලාවත සහ වැලිගම යන ප්රදේශ වල දියත් කල විශේෂ මෙහෙයුම් මඟින් විදේශිය දුම්වැටි 3400ක්, නීතිවිරෝධී දේශිය මත්පැන් ස්ප්රිතු ලිටර් 80කට අධික ප්රමාණයක්, මත්පැන් නිශ්පාදනය සඳහා භාවිතා කරන ගෝඩා සහිත බැරල් 18ක් සහ හෂිෂ් මත්ද්රව්ය ග්රැම් 3කට අධික ප්රමාණයක් සමඟ සැකකරුවන් දෙදෙනෙකු අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනිමට සමත්විය.
මෙලෙස අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් සැකකරුවන්, මත්ද්රව්ය සහ දුම්වැටි හලාවත, මීගමුව සහ වැලිගම පොලිස් ස්ථාන වෙත වැඩිදුර විමර්ෂණ සහ ඉදිරි නීතිමය කටයුතු සඳහා භාර දීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි.
