Based on intelligence received by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard seven (07) suspects were arrested at Negombo, Panadura, Amblangoda and Weligama areas in possession of 9800 foreign cigarettes during search operations conducted from 5th to 13th January 2026
The above arrest was made during a special search operation conducted in coordination with officers of the Divisional Crime Detective Bureau, Mount Lavinia.
The arrested persons along with the seized cigarettes were handed over to the Negombo, Mount Lavinia, Amblangoda and Weligama Police stations for further investigation and onward legal action.
ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව ගල්කිස්ස කොට්ඨාස අපරාධ විමර්ශණ ඒකකය සහ පොලිස් විශේෂ කාර්ය්ය බලකාය එක්ව 2026 ජනවාරි මස 05 වන දින සිට අද (2026 ජනවාරි 13) දක්වා මිගමුව, පානදුර, අම්බලන්ගොඩ සහ වැලිගම යන ප්රදේශ වල සිදුකල විශේෂ මෙහෙයුම් මඟින් නීතිවිරෝධී ලෙස අලවි කිරීම සඳහා සූදානම්කර තිබූ විදේශීය දුම්වැටි 9800ක් සමඟ පුද්ගලයන් හත් දෙනෙකු (07) මෙලෙස වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට සමත් විය.
මෙම අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් සැකකරුවන් සහ දුම්වැටි තොග වැඩිදුර විමර්ශන හා ඉදිරි නීතිමය කටයුතු සඳහා මීගමුව, ගල්කිස්ස, අම්බලන්ගොඩ සහ වැලිගම පොලීස් ස්ථාන වෙත භාර දීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි.
