Seven (07) fishermen were arrested along with 876.2 Kg of Shark fish (Alopias Vulpinus) by the Coast Guard during a special operation conducted at the Wellamankara fishery harbour, Wennapuwa on 23rd January 2026.
The suspects along with the seized shark fish and fishing vessel were handed over to the Fisheries Inspector’s office in Wennapuwa for further investigations and legal proceedings.
ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව විසින් 2026 ජනවාරි මස 23 වන දින සවස් කාලයේ වෙන්නප්පුව, වෙල්ලමන්කර ධීවර වරායේ සිදු කළ විශේෂ සෝදිසි මෙහෙයුමකදි මෙරට බහු දින ධීවර යාත්රාවක් තුල සඟවා තිබූ නීතිවිරෝධී ලෙස අල්ලන ලද මෝර මසුන් (Alopias Vulpinus) කිලෝ ග්රෑම් 876 ග්රෑම් 200ක පමණ තොගයක් සමඟ පුද්ගලයින් හත් (07) දෙනෙකු අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි.
ඒ අනුව, අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් එම ධීවරයන් හත් (07) දෙනා, මෝර මත්ස්ය තොගය හා ධීවර යාත්රාව ඉදිරි විමර්ශන සහ නීතිමය කටයුතු සඳහා වෙන්නප්පුව ධීවර පරීක්ෂක කාර්යාලය වෙත භාර දීම සිදු කෙරිණි.
