Based on intelligence received by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard, a special search operation was conducted off Thoduwawa sea areas in coordination with the Sri Lanka Navy and arrested two (02) suspects along with 25 sacks containing of 992.8 Kg of Kendu leaves, 140,000 foreign cigarettes and agrochemical consignment with a dingy boat on 21st February 2026.
Arrested suspects, Kendu leaves, foreign cigarettes, agrochemicals and dingy boat were handed over to the Chilaw Excise office for further investigation and legal proceedings.

ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවට ලද විශේෂ තොරතුරකට අනුව 2026 පෙබරවාරි 21 වන දින නාවික හමුදාව හා එක්ව හලාවත, තොඩුවාව ප්රදේශයේ සිදුකල විශේෂ එකාබද්ධ සෝදිසි මෙහෙයුමකදි උර 25ක අසුරන ලද බීඩි කොල කිලෝ ග්රෑම් 992 ග්රෑම් 800 ක තොගයක්, විදේශීය දුම්වැටි එක් ලක්ෂ හතලිස් දහසක්(140,000) සහ විදේශීය රටක නිශ්පාදිත කෘෂි රසායනික ද්රව්ය තොගයක් සමඟ සැකකරුවන් දෙදෙනෙක් (02) සහ ඩිංගි යාත්රාවක් අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට සමත්විය.
තවද, අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් සැකරුවන් දෙදෙනා, බීඩි කොළ, විදේශිය දුම්වැටි, කෘෂි රසායනික ද්රව්ය තොගය සහ ඩංගි යාත්රාව වැඩිදුර විමර්ශණ සහ ඉදිරි නීතිමය කටයුතු සඳහා හලාවත සුරාබදු කාර්යාලය වෙත භාර දිමට කටයුතු කරන ලදි.
