The Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) successfully conducted a Table Top Exercise – 2026 (TTX–26) at the Coast Guard Headquarters Mirissa, with the participation of representatives from regional Coast Guards and several local stakeholders on 16th and 17th March 2026.
The primary objective of this exercise was to strengthen inter agency collaboration and coordination among local stakeholders and regional Coast Guards in addressing maritime security threats and challenges.
The two-day exercise provided valuable opportunities for participants to enhance their understanding of the application of maritime laws in various operational scenarios. The exercise covered a wide range of maritime issues and scenarios including drug trafficking, human trafficking/smuggling application of the Law of the Sea, search and rescue operations, oil spill response and application of main laws and conventions.
With the objective of collectively and swiftly responding to common maritime challenges while safeguarding the marine environment for future generations, this exercise also facilitated the exchange of knowledge and experiences among participants from the Coast Guards of Bangladesh, India, and the Maldives, together with local stakeholders such as the Sri Lanka Navy, Air Force, Police, Marine Environment Protection Authority, Police Narcotics Bureau, Attorney General Department and Sri Lanka Customs, thereby contributing to improved preparedness and coordinated responses to maritime incidents in the region.
Certificate awarding ceremony was held with the participation of the Director General SLCG Rear Admiral Rohan Joseph and all senior officers.
කලාපීය සහයෝගීතාවයෙන් සමුද්රීය පරිසරය රැක ගැනීම අරමුණු කර ගනිමින් ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව විසින් සංවිධානය කරන ලද TABLE TOP - 2026 (TTX – 26) අභ්යාසය, 2026 මාර්තු මස 16 සහ 17 දෙදින තුල කලාපීය රටවල වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තු නිලධාරීන් සහ දේශීය සමුද්රීය පාර්ශවකරුවන්ගේ සහභාගීත්වයෙන් මිරිස්ස වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තු මූලස්ථානයේදී සාර්ථකව පැවැත්වීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණ.
තවද, දින දෙකක් පුරා පැවති මෙම අභ්යාසය තුළින් සමුද්රීය පරිසරය හරහා කලාපීය රටවලට දැඩි බලපෑමක් එල්ල කරමින් පවතින නීති විරෝධී මත්ද්රව්ය, මිනිස් ජාවාරම්, අනෙකුත් භාණ්ඩ ජාවාරම්, සමුද්රීය තෙල් විසිරුම්, මුහුදේදී අනතුරට පත්වන නාවික හා ධීවර ප්රජාවගේ ජීවිත සුරක්ෂිත කරදීම සඳහා සෙවීම් හා මුදවා ගැනීම් ක්රියාවට නැංවීම සම්බන්ධව සාමූහිකව මුහුණදෙන ආකාරය ප්රගුණකල අතර, එහිදී සමුද්රීය නීතිය, සරණාගතයන් සම්බන්ධ ජාත්යන්තර නීති, SUA සහ සමුද්රීය දූෂණය වැළැක්වීමේ ජාත්යන්තර සම්මුතීන් මෙන්ම අනපනත් සම්බන්ධයෙන් දැඩි අවධානයක් යොමු කරන ලදී.
එමෙන්ම, පොදු සමුද්රීය අභියෝගයන් හමුවේ සාමුහිකව මුහුණදෙමින් කඩිනමින් ප්රතිචාර දැක්වීම හරහා සමුද්රීය පරිසරය රුකදීමේ අරමුණින් සංවිධානය කල මෙම අභ්යාසය සඳහා බංගලාදේශය, ඉන්දියාව, මාලදිවයින වැනි රටවල් නියෝජනය කරමින් වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තු නිලධාරීන්, ශ්රී ලංකා නාවික හමුදාව, ගුවන් හමුදාව, පොලීසිය, සමුද්රීය පරිසර ආරක්ෂණ අධිකාරිය, පොලිස් මත් ද්රව්ය නාශක කාර්යංශය, නීතිපති දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව සහ ශ්රී ලංකා රේගුව වැනි රාජ්ය ආයතන නියෝජනය කරමින් නියෝජිතයන් රැසක් සහභාගී වී සිටියහ.
තවද, අභ්යාසය අවසානයේ සහතිකපත් ප්රදානෝත්සවය සඳහා ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ අධ්යක්ෂ ජෙනරාල් රියර් අද්මිරාල් රොහාන් ජෝසෆ් ඇතුලු වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තු මූලස්ථානයේ ජ්යෙෂ්ඨ නිලධාරීන් සහභාගී වී සිටියහ.
