During special operations conducted in Beruwala and Kalpitiya areas by the Coast Guard thirteen (13) personnel engaged in illegal fishing activities were arrested on 19th March 2026.
Ten (10) fishermen were arrested along with their boats and fishing gears while they were engaged in ‘Light Course’ fishing in Beruwala area.
In another operation conducted on the same day, Coast Guard arrested three (03) individuals while engaging in illegal night diving off Kalpitiya seas along with their Fiber Glass Dinghy boat, illegally harvested fish stock and unauthorized fishing gears.
All arrested personnel, fishing boats, unauthorized fishing gears, and fish stocks were handed over to the Beruwala Fisheries Inspectors and the Puttalam Assistant Director of Fisheries, respectively, for legal proceedings.

එමෙන්ම, එදිනම කල්පිටිය ආශ්රිත මුහුදු ප්රදේශයේ සිදු කල මෙහෙයුමකදි රාත්රි කාලයේ කිමිදුම් කටයුතු මඟින් නීති විරෝධී ලෙස අල්ලන ලද මුහුදු කූඩැල්ලන් 30ක්, මසුන් කිලෝ ග්රෑම් 67 ක් සහ දැල්ලන් කිලෝ ග්රෑම් 2.5 ක් සමඟ පුද්ගලයන් තිදෙනෙකු (03), ඩිංගි යාත්රාවක් සහ නීති විරෝධී ධීවර කටයුතු සඳහා භාවිතා කරනු ලබන අනවසර ධීවර උපකරන සමඟ අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනිමට සමත් විය.
තවද, මෙම මෙහෙයුම් මඟින් අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් සැකකරුවන් දහතුන් දෙනා(13), ධීවර යාත්රා දෙක(02), ඔරුව (01) දැල් ආම්පන්න, අනෙකුත් උපකරන සහ මත්ස්ය තොග ඉදිරි නීතිමය කටයුතු සඳහා බේරුවල ධීවර පරික්ෂණ කාර්යාලය සහ පුත්තලම සහකාර ධීවර අධ්යක්ෂක වෙත භාර දිම සිදු කෙරිණි
