Based on intelligence received by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard, a special search operation was conducted at Kirinda, Amaduwa area in coordination with officers of the Police Special Task Force, Katharagama. During the operation, a suspect was arrested while transporting 1.06kg of local Cannabis and 500g of Cannabis seeds on 22nd March 2026.
Arrested suspect along with local Cannabis and seeds were handed over to the Thissamaharama Police station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවට ලද විශේෂ තොරතුකට අනුව කතරගම පොලිස් විශේෂ කාර්ය්ය බලකාය හා එක්ව 2026 මාර්තු මස 22 වන දින කිරින්ද, අමදූව ප්රදේශයේ සිදුකල විශේෂ ඒකාබද්ධ සෝදිසි මෙහෙයුමකදි අලෙවි කිරීම සඳහා රැගෙනයමින් තිබූ දේශීය ගංජා කිලෝග්රෑම් 1 යි ග්රෑම් 60 ක ප්රමාණයක්, ගංජා බීජ ග්රෑම් 500 ක ප්රමාණයක් සමඟින් සැකකරුවෙකු අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට සමත් විය.
ඒ අනුව, අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් දේශීය ගංජා සහ බීජ තොගය සැකකරු සමඟින් වැඩිදුර විමර්ශණය සහ ඉදිරි නීතිමය කටයුතු සඳහා කිරින්ද පොලිස් ස්ථානය වෙත භාර දිමට කටයුතු කරන ලදි.
