The Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG), Rear Admiral Rohan Joseph, paid a courtesy call on the Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) at the Ministry of Defence today (23 March).
This is the first official call of the Rear Admiral Joseph since being officially appointed as the Director General of the SLCG.
The Defence Secretary while wishing him on his appointement emphasized the vital role played by the SL Coast Guard in safeguarding the country's litoral waters, combating illegal activities at sea, and supporting humanitarian operations.

ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළාරක්ෂක බලකායේ අධ්යක්ෂ ජෙනරාල් රියර් අද්මිරාල් රොහාන් ජෝසප් අද (මාර්තු 23) දින ආරක්ෂක අමාත්යාංශයේදී ආරක්ෂක ලේකම් එයාර් වයිස් මාර්ෂල් සම්පත් තුයියකොන්තා (විශ්රාමික) හමුවිය.
මෙය රියර් අද්මිරාල් ජෝසප් මහතා ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළාරක්ෂක බලකායේ අධ්යක්ෂ ජෙනරාල්වරයා ලෙස නිලවශයෙන් පත්වීමෙන් පසු සිදුකළ පළමු නිල හමුවයි.
මෙහිදී ආරක්ෂක ලේකම්වරයා නව පත්වීම් ලැබූ අධ්යක්ෂ ජෙනරාල්වරයා වෙත සුබ පැතුම් එක් කළ අතර, මෙරට මුහුදු තීරයේ ආරක්ෂාව තහවුරු කිරීම, සාගර කලාපය තුළ සිදුවන නීති විරෝධී කටයුතු මැඩපැවැත්වීම සහ මානුෂීය මෙහෙයුම් සඳහා අවශ්ය සහයෝගය ලබාදීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළාරක්ෂක බලකාය ඉටුකරන වැදගත් කාර්යභාරය පිළිබඳව ද අවධාරණය කළේය.
