The Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) successfully rescued eighteen (18) local and foreign tourists from drowning during lifesaving operations conducted across various coastal regions of the island in the month March 2026.
The SLCG operates seventeen (17) lifesaving posts along key tourist attracting beaches around the country and the Coast Guard lifesavers were able to rescue fourteen (14) foreign nationals and four (04) local tourists from drowning during the month of March 2026. The rescued individuals comprised male and female nationals from Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Russia and Turkiye aged between 02 and 46 years.
Since, its establishment in 2010, the Coast Guard lifesavers have successfully rescued 2,610 lives, including 1,207 foreign nationals as of 31st March 2026.
ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තු ජීවිතාරක්ෂක නිලධාරීන් විසින් 2026 මාර්තු මාසය තුල සිදුකල ජිවිතාරක්ෂක මෙහෙයුම් මඟින් වෙරළ කලාපයේ දිය නෑමට ගොස් දියේ ගිලීමට ලක්වීමෙන් අනතුරට පත් දෙස් විදෙස් සංචාරකයින් දහඅට දෙනෙකුගේ (18) ජිවිත බේරා ගැනිමට සමත් විය.
ඒ අනුව, වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව දිවයින වටා සංචාරක ආකර්ෂණය දිනාගත් වෙරළ තීරයන් ආවරණය වන පරිදි ජීවිතාරක්ෂක මුරකුටි 17ක් පවත්වාගෙන යමින් සිදුකල ජිවිතාරක්ෂක මෙහෙයුම් මඟින් විදේශීය සංචාරකයින් දහහතර දෙනෙකු (14) සහ දේශිය සංචාරකයින් හතර දෙනෙකුගේ (04) ගේ ජිවිත නිරුපද්රිතව බේරා ගැනීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි. තවද, මෙසේ බේරා ගන්නා ලද සංචාරකයින් වයස අවුරුදු 02ත් 46 ත් අතර වයසේ පසුවන ඩෙන්මාර්ක්, ඊජිප්තුව, ප්රංශය, ජර්මනිය, ඉන්දියාව, රුසියාව සහ තුර්කිය යන රටවල පුද්ගලයන් වේ.
එමෙන්ම 2010 වර්ෂයේ වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව පිහිටුවීමෙන් අනතුරුව 2026 මාර්තු 31 වන දින දක්වා ජිවිත 2610ක ප්රමාණයක් බේරාගැනීමට කටයුතු කර ඇති අතර, ඉන් 1207ක් විදේශිකයන් වේ.
