The Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) successfully rescued nineteen (19) local and foreign tourists from drowning during lifesaving operations conducted across various coastal regions of the island in the month April 2026.
The SLCG operates sixteen (16) lifesaving posts along key tourist attracting beaches around the country and the Coast Guard lifesavers were able to rescue fourteen (14) foreign nationals and five (05) local tourists from drowning during the month of April 2026. The rescued individuals comprised of male and female nationals from Australia, France, Germany, India, Russia and Switzerland aged between 05 and 62 years.
Since, its establishment in 2010, the Coast Guard lifesavers have successfully rescued 2,629 lives, including 1,221 foreign nationals as of 30th April 2026.
ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තු ජීවිතාරක්ෂක නිලධාරීන් විසින් 2026 අප්රේල් මාසය තුල සිදුකල ජිවිතාරක්ෂක මෙහෙයුම් මඟින් වෙරළ කලාපයේ දිය නෑමට ගොස් දියේ ගිලීමට ලක්වීමෙන් අනතුරට පත් දෙස් විදෙස් සංචාරකයින් දහනව දෙනෙකුගේ (19) ජිවිත නිරුපද්රිතව බේරා ගැනීමට සමත් විය.
ඒ අනුව, වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව දිවයින වටා සංචාරක ආකර්ෂණය දිනාගත් වෙරළ තීරයන් ආවරණය වන පරිදි ජීවිතාරක්ෂක මුරකුටි 16ක් පවත්වාගෙන යමින් සිදුකල ජිවිතාරක්ෂක මෙහෙයුම් මඟින් විදේශීය සංචාරකයින් දහහතර දෙනෙකු (14) සහ දේශිය සංචාරකයින් පස් දෙනෙකුගේ (05) ගේ ජිවිත නිරුපද්රිතව බේරා ගැනීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි. තවද, මෙසේ බේරා ගන්නා ලද සංචාරකයින් වයස අවුරුදු 05 ත් 62 ත් අතර වයසේ පසුවන ප්රංශය, ජර්මනිය, ඉන්දියාව, රුසියාව, ස්විට්සර්ලන්තය සහ ඕස්ට්රේලියාව යන රටවල පුද්ගලයන් වේ.
එමෙන්ම 2010 වර්ෂයේ වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව පිහිටුවීමෙන් අනතුරුව 2026 අප්රේල් 30 වන දින දක්වා ජිවිත 2629 ක ප්රමාණයක් බේරාගැනීමට කටයුතු කර ඇති අතර, ඉන් 1221ක් විදේශිකයන් වේ.
