As part of these efforts, a tree-planting campaign was carried out across the Northern, Eastern, Western, and Southern Coast Guard regions from January to 21 st May 2026. During the campaign, Mudilla, mangrove, and coconut trees were planted with the assistance of the Department of Coastal Conservation.
On the directives of the Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard, Rear Admiral Rohan Joseph, the tree planting programmes are being carried out across all Coast Guard regions. The initiative focuses on introducing native species to strengthen local ecosystems in coastal, lagoon, and inland areas.
As one component of this initiative, aimed at transforming coastal areas around the island into attractive tourist destinations, over 70 beach cleaning programmes were conducted with the participation of Coast Guard officers and personnel, foreign nationals, and members of government and non governmental organizations. This initiative aims to enhance the resilience and sustainability of the country’s vital ecosystems for generations to come.
ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව 2026 වර්ෂය ආරම්භයේ සිට අද (2026 මැයි මස 21) දක්වා දිවයින වටා වෙරළ තීරය ආවරණය වන පරිදි පරිසර හිතකාමී රුක්රෝපණ සහ වෙරළ පිරිසිඳු කිරීමේ වැඩසටහන් රැසක් ක්රියාවට නැන්වීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි.
මෙම රුක්රෝපණ වැඩසටහන් මාලාව උතුර, නැගෙනහිර, බටහිර සහ දකුණ වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තු ප්රාදේශිකයන් ආවරණය වන පරිදි දිවයිනේ වෙරළ, කලපු සහ ගොඩබිම් ප්රදේශ තුල, එම පරිසර පද්ධතීන්ට උචිත මූදිල්ලා (Mudilla), කඩොලාන පැළ සහ පොල් පැළ රෝපණය කිරීම සිදු කෙරිණි.
තවද, ක්ලීන් ශ්රී ලංකා ජාතික වැඩසටහන යටතේ ක්රියාත්මක අරමුණු සාක්ෂාත් කර ගැනිම සඳහා ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව ප්රමුඛ කාර්ය්යක් ඉටු කරන අතර, එහි එක් අංගයක් ලෙස දිවයින වටා වූ වෙරළ සංචාරක ආකර්ශණය දිනාගත් ප්රදේශයන් බවට පත් කිරීමේ අරමුණින් ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ අධ්යක්ෂ ජෙනරාල් රියර් අද්මිරාල් රොහාන් ජෝසෆ් ඇතුළු නිලධාරීන් විශාල ප්රමාණයකගේ දායකත්වයෙන් විදේශීය රටවල මෙන්ම දෙස්විදෙස් සංවිධාන වල සහභාගීත්වයෙන් වෙරළ පිරිසිඳු කිරීමේ වැඩසටහන් 70කට අධික අවස්ථාවන් ගණනකදී ක්රියාවට නැන්වීමට කටයුතු කල අතර, මෙරට සමුද්රීය පරිසර පද්ධතියේ තිරසාරත්වය අනාගත පරපුර වෙනුවෙන් තවදුරටත් රැකදීම, මෙම වැඩසටහන් මඟින් අපේක්ෂා කරනු ලබයි.
