The Sri Lanka Coast Guard during a special operation conducted in Yala Jungle area, with the assistance of Police Special Task Force, Kataragama, arrested a person with over fifty thousand (50,000) cannabis saplings on 02nd June 2026.
The seized stock of locally cultivated cannabis saplings was destroyed at the location by burning, and the arrested suspect was handed over to the Katharagama Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවට ලද විශේෂ තොරතුරකට අනුව කතරගම පොලිස් විශේෂ කාර්ය්ය බලකාය හා එක්ව 2026 ජුනි මස 02 වන දින යාල රක්ෂිතය තුල සිදුකල විශේෂ ඒකාබද්ධ සෝදිසි මෙහෙයුමකදි පැළකිරීම සඳහා සූදානම්කර තිබූ දේශීය ගංජා පැළ පනස් දහසක් (50,000) කට අධික ප්රමාණයක් සමඟින් සැකකරුවෙකු අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට සමත් විය.
ඒ අනුව, අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් දේශීය ගංජා පැළ තොගය එම ස්ථානයේදීම ගිණිතබා විනාශකිරීමට කටයුතු කල අතර, සැකකරු වැඩිදුර විමර්ශණය සහ ඉදිරි නීතිමය කටයුතු සඳහා කතරගම පොලිස් ස්ථානය වෙත භාර දිමට කටයුතු කරන ලදි.
