SRI LANKA COAST GUARD JOINS HANDS WITH SCHOOL CHILDREN FOR BEACH CLEANING PROGRAMMES IN LINE WITH WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

In support of the national vision, A Sustainable Life – A Comfortable Nation, the Sri Lanka Coast Guard, committed to the sustainable preservation of the marine and coastal environment, organized a series of environmental awareness and beach cleaning programmes for school children, in line with the World Environment Day 2026.

Accordingly, an awareness programme on the importance of environmental conservation and the impacts of environmental degradation on the well-being of biological communities was conducted for the students of Mirissa Maha Vidyalaya, Matara, on 3^rd June 2026.

On the following day, students and teachers of Henewala Maha Vidyalaya, Matara, together with personnel of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard, participated in a beach cleaning programme along the Mirissa Beach.
