The Sri Lanka Coast Guard conducted an awareness programme for operators of whale watching vessels operating in Mirissa area at the Coast Guard Headquarters on 10th June 2026
Accordingly, participants were comprehensively briefed on the importance of ensuring safety aspects prior to the commencement of sea voyages, first aid aspects in the event of emergencies and procedures to be followed during mechanical failures.
The programme also emphasized the importance of preventing the discharge of polythene, plastic, and other waste materials into the marine environment, while underscoring the need to conduct whale watching operations in a responsible and environmentally sustainable manner that does not cause disturbance or harm to whales and other marine species.
ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව විසින් මිරිස්ස ප්රදේශයේ තල්මසුන් නැරඹීමේ සංචාර සඳහා යොදාගනු ලබන යාත්රා ක්රියාකරුවන් දැනුවත් කිරීමේ වැඩසටහනක් 2026 ජුනි මස 10 වන දින වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තු මූලස්ථානයේදී පවත්වන ලදී.
මිරිස්ස ධීවර වරායට ඔබ්බෙන් වූ මුහුදු ප්රදේශයේ දෙස් විදෙස් සංචාරකයන් වෙනුවෙන් ක්රියාත්මක වන මෙම යාත්රා මඟින් මුහුදු සංචාර සිදු කිරීමේදී, සංචාරයට පෙර හා සංචාරය අතරතුර අනුගමනය කළ යුතු ආරක්ෂිත ක්රියා පිළිවෙත් සහ නීතිමය අවශ්යතා පිළිබඳව මෙහිදී පුළුල් දැනුවත් කිරීමක් සිදු කරන ලදී..
ඒ අනුව යාත්රා මුහුදු සංචාරයට ප්රථම මගීන් සඳහා අනුගමනය කල යුතු ආරක්ෂක ක්රමවේද, මුහුදේදී ප්රථමාධාර ලබා දීම, යාත්රාවක් මුහුදු සංචාරය අතරතුර කාර්මික දෝෂයකට ලක්වුව හොත් ගතයුතු ක්රියාමාර්ග, සංචාරකයෙකු හට හදිසි තත්ත්වයක් ඇතිවුව හොත් වහාම ගොඩබිම වෙත රැගෙන ඒම සඳහා ක්රියාකල යුතු ආකාරය පිළිබඳව මෙන්ම පොලිතින්, ප්ලාස්ටික් වැනි අපද්රව්ය මුහුදු ජලයට මුදා හැරීම වැළැක්වීමට සහ තල්මසුන් ඇතුළු මුහුදු ජීවීන්ට හිරිහැරයක් නොවන ආකාරයෙන් ක්රියාකිරීමේ ඇති වැදගත් කම පිළිබඳව අවධාරණය කරන ලදි.
