COAST GUARD OPERATIONS NET NARCOTICS AND PRESCRIPTION DRUGS VALUED OVER RS. 90 MILLION UP TO JUNE 2026 ARRESTED

In line with the "A Nation United" initiative, aimed at safeguarding future generations from the threat of narcotics, the Sri Lanka Coast Guard has intensified drug interdiction operations across the island. These efforts are carried out through a collaborative approach involving all relevant stakeholders and law enforcement agencies.

Accordingly, Coast Guard operations conducted during the first six months of 2026, led to the seizure of substantial quantities of Heroin, Ice, Hashish, Kush foreign and local cannabis, illegal medicinal capsules, foreign cigarettes, locally manufactured liquor, Kendu leaves and foreign manufactured beedi with an estimated street value exceeding Rs. 90 million.

During the above operations 78 suspects in connection with above illegal activities were also arrested and handed over to law enforcement authorities.
