OVER15 MILLION WORTH OF KENDU LEAVES TAKEN INTO CUSTODY DURING COMBINED OPERATION
Based on intelligence received by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard, a special operation was conducted at the ‘Wellamankara’ area in Wennappuwa in coordination with the Officers of State Intelligence Service and Police Special Taks Force Wennappuwa, arrested three (03) persons along with dinghy boat and a lorry with over 2200 Kg of Kendu leaves on 22nd July 2026.
The gross street value of Kendu leaves taken into custody in this operation is believed to be over 15 Million.
The arrested suspect, together with the seized stock of Kendu leaves, dinghy boat and the lorry, were handed over to the Custom Preventive Office in Katunayaka for further investigation and legal proceedings.

ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තුමේන්තුව වෙත ලද විශේෂ තොරතුරකට අනුව 2026 ජුනි මස 22 වන දින අළුයම් කාලයේ වෙන්නප්පුව රාජ්ය බුද්ධි සේවයේ නිලධාරීන් හා පොලිස් විශේෂකාර්ය බළකාය එක්ව වෙන්නප්පුව වෙල්ලමංකර ප්රදේශයේ සිදුකල විශේෂ මෙහෙයුමක් මඟින් නීති විරෝධි ලෙස මෙරටට ගෙන්වන ලද උර හැටක (60) ක අසුරන ලද බීඩි කොල කිලෝ ග්රෑම් 2200 කට අධික තොගයක් සමඟ සැක කරුවන් තිදෙනෙක් (03), බීඩී කොල ප්රවාහනය සඳහා යොදා ගන්නා ලද ඩිංගි යාත්රාවක් සහ ලොරි රථයක් වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තුමේන්තුව අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි.
මෙම මෙහෙයුම මඟින් අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් බීඩී කොල තොගයෙහි දළ වටිනාකම රුපියල් මිලියන 15කට අධික වේ.
තවද, මෙලෙස අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් සැකකරුවන් තිදෙනා, බීඩිකොල තොගය, ඩිංගි යාත්රාව සහ ලොරි රථය ඉදිරි විමර්ශණ සහ නීතිමය කටයුතු සඳහා කටුනායක රේගු නිවාරන ඒකකය වෙත භාර දීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි.
