SRI LANKA COAST GUARD CONTRIBUTES TO ‘ATHTHAMA’ NATIONAL CLEANLINESS PROGRAMME

The Sri Lanka Coast Guard actively participated in the ‘Aththama’ National Cleanliness Programme conducted on 8^th August 2026, under the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ national initiative, contributing to the national effort towards a cleaner and greener Sri Lanka.

Cleaning activities were conducted across Malimbada, Thihagoda, Devinuwara, Kekanadura, Weligama, Dehiwala, Thimbirigasyaya and Lunawa Divisional Secretariat Divisions, with the participation of Coast Guard personnel and local communities. The programmes included cleaning schools, beaches, children’s parks, playgrounds and roadside areas.

Personnel and officials from the Sri Lanka Army, Navy, Police, Civil Security Department, Divisional Secretariat Offices and Municipal Councils, along with local communities participated in the programme.

Through this initiative, the SLCG reaffirmed its commitment to environmental protection, community participation and responsible waste management, supporting the vision of a cleaner and greener Sri Lanka.
