Based on intelligence received by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard, a special operation was conducted together with the Sri Lanka Navy near the ‘Deduru Oya Bridge’ in Chilaw and apprehended two dinghy boats with over 1302 Kg (wet weight) of Kendu leaves illegally smuggled into the country by sea 10th August 2026.
The gross street value of Kendu leaves taken into custody in this operation is believed to be over nine million. In addition to the above, a box of soap (60 Pcs) was also taken into custody.
The arrested 02 dinghy boats, seized stock of Kendu leaves, and box of soap were handed over to the Biyagama Excise Special Operation Unit for further investigation and legal proceedings.
ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තුමේන්තුව වෙත ලද විශේෂ තොරතුරකට අනුව 2026 අගෝස්තු මස 10 වන දින නාවික හමුදාව සමඟ එක්ව දැදුරු ඔය පාලම ආශ්රිතව සිදුකල විශේෂ මෙහෙයුමක් මඟින් නීති විරෝධි ලෙස මෙරටට ගෙන්වන ලද බීඩි කොල කිලෝ ග්රෑම් 1302 (තෙත බර සහිත) කට අධික තොගයක් සමඟ ඩිංගි යාත්රා 02ක් වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තුමේන්තුව අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි.
මෙම මෙහෙයුම මඟින් අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් බීඩී කොල තොගයෙහි දළ වීදී වටිනාකම රුපියල් මිලියන 09කට අධික වේ. මෙයට අමතරව, සබන් කැට 60කින් සමන්විත පෙට්ටියක් ද අත්අඩංගුවට ගන්නා ලදී.
තවද, මෙලෙස අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් බීඩිකොල තොගය, සබන් සහ ඩිංගි යාත්රා 02ක ඉදිරි විමර්ශණ සහ නීතිමය කටයුතු සඳහා බියගම සුරාබදු විශේෂ මෙහෙයුම් එ්කකය වෙත භාර දීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි.
