OVER 2.8 MILLION WORTH OF KENDU LEAVES TAKEN INTO CUSTODY DURING COMBINED OPERATION
Based on intelligence received by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard, a special operation was conducted in coordination with the Sri Lanka Navy in the ‘Thoduwawa’ area on 21st September 2026. During the operation, over 409 Kg of Kendu leaves, which had been abandoned on the Kudamaduwella beach due to the operations conducted by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard, were taken into custody
The gross street value of Kendu leaves taken into custody in this operation is believed to be over 2.8 million.
The seized stock of Kendu leaves was handed over to the Thoduwawa Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.

ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තුමේන්තුව වෙත ලද විශේෂ තොරතුරකට අනුව 2026 සැප්තැම්බර් මස 21 වන දින උදෑසන ශ්රී ලංකා නාවික හමුදාව සමග එක්ව තොඩුවාව ප්රදේශයේ සිදුකල විශේෂ මෙහෙයුමක් මඟින් නීති විරෝධී ලෙස මෙරටට ගෙන්වා, වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව මඟින් සිදු කරනු ලබන මෙහෙයුම් හේතුවෙන් රට තුලට රැගෙන ඒමට නොහැකිව කුඩාමඩුවැල්ල වෙරළතීරයේ අතහැර දමා යන ලද බීඩි කොල කිලෝ ග්රෑම් 409 කට අධික තොගයක් වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි.
මෙම මෙහෙයුම මඟින් අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් බීඩී කොල තොගයෙහි දළ වටිනාකම රුපියල් මිලියන 2.8 කට අධික වේ.
තවද, මෙලෙස අත්අඩංගුවට ගන්නා ලද, බීඩිකොල තොගය, ඉදිරි විමර්ශණ සහ නීතිමය කටයුතු සඳහා තොඩුවාව පොලීසිය වෙත භාර දීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි.
