FOREIGN CIGARETTES WORTH OVER RS. 75,000 SEIZED BY THE SRI LANKA COAST GUARD
Based on intelligence received by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard, a special operation was conducted in collaboration with officers of the Divisional Crime Detective Bureau (DCDB) Colombo South and during the operation, a suspect was arrested along with a foreign cigarette bundle on 26th September 2026.
The gross value of apprehended cigarettes during the operation is believed to be over 75,000 Rupees.
During further interrogation of the arrested suspect, another suspect was arrested along with four bundles of foreign cigarettes and a motorcycle.
The two suspects, along with the foreign cigarettes and the motorcycle, were handed over to the Wellawatta Police Station for further investigations and legal action.

ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව වෙත ලද බුද්ධි තොරතුරකට අනුව, කොළඹ දකුණ කොට්ඨාස අපරාධ විමර්ශන කාර්යාංශයේ (DCDB) නිලධාරීන් සමඟ එක්ව 2026 සැප්තැම්බර් මස 26 වන දින සිදු කරන ලද විශේෂ මෙහෙයුමකදී වෙළඳසැලක් තුළ අලෙවි කිරීම සඳහා සඟවා තිබූ විදෙස් දුම්වැටි බන්ඩලයක් සමඟ එක් සැකකරුවෙකු අත්අඩංගුවට ගන්නා ලදී.
මෙම මෙහෙයුමේදී අත්අඩංගුවට ගන්නා ලද දුම්වැටිවල දළ වටිනාකම රුපියල් 75,000කට අධික බවට විශ්වාස කෙරේ.
තවදුරටත්, අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් සැකකරුගෙන් වැඩිදුර ප්රශ්න කිරීමේදී, තවත් සැකකරුවෙකු සමඟ යතුරුපැදියක් සහ විදෙස් දුම්වැටි බන්ඩල් හතරක් අත්අඩංගුවට ගන්නා ලදී.
අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් සැකකරුවන් දෙදෙනා, විදෙස් දුම්වැටි බන්ඩල් පහ සහ යතුරුපැදිය ඉදිරි විමර්ශන හා නීතිමය කටයුතු සඳහා වැල්ලවත්ත පොලිස් ස්ථානය වෙත භාර දෙන ලදී.
