MARITIME LAW ENFORCEMENT COURSE SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTED AT SLCG WARUNA
The Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG), in cooperation with the Japan Coast Guard (JCG), successfully conducted a Maritime Law Enforcement Course at the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Rear Headquarters, SLCG Waruna, from 26th to 30th October 2026, as part of a capacity-building initiative supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The course was conducted with the aim of enhancing the professional knowledge and operational capabilities of Sri Lanka Coast Guard personnel in maritime law enforcement. Instructors from JICA shared their knowledge and expertise with sixteen (16) participants representing the Sri Lanka Coast Guard providing valuable opportunities to strengthen their understanding of maritime law enforcement practices.
As part of the training programme, practical exercises were conducted at the Outer Harbour of Dikovita on 27th and 29th October 2026. These exercises provided participants with practical exposure to maritime law enforcement operations and enabled them to apply the knowledge gained during the course in a realistic operational environment.
The successful completion of the course reflects the continued commitment of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard to enhancing the professional competence and operational readiness of its personnel through international cooperation and knowledge-sharing initiatives. The collaboration with JICA and the Japan Coast Guard further strengthens the existing partnership between the two countries in developing maritime law enforcement capabilities.
ශ්‍රීලංවෙආනෞ වරුණ ආයතනයේදී සමුද්‍රීය නීති බලාත්මක කිරීමේ පාඨමාලාව සාර්ථකව පවත්වයි
ජපාන ජාත්‍යන්තර සහයෝගිතා ඒජන්සියේ ධාරිතා සංවර්ධන වැඩසටහනේ කොටසක් ලෙස, ජපාන වෙරළාරක්ෂක බලකායේ සහයෝගීතාවයෙන් ශ්‍රී ලංකා වෙරළාරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව විසින් 2026 ඔක්තෝබර් මස 26 වන දින සිට 30 වන දින දක්වා ශ්‍රී ලංකා වෙරළාරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ පසු මූලස්ථානය වන ශ්‍රීලවආ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ වරුණ ආයතනයේදී සමුද්‍රීය නීතිය බලාත්මක කිරීමේ පාඨමාලාවක් සාර්ථකව පවත්වන ලදී.
සමුද්‍රීය නීති බලාත්මක කිරීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් වෙරළාරක්ෂක පුද්ගලයන්ගේ වෘත්තීය දැනුම සහ මෙහෙයුම් හැකියාවන් ඉහළ නැංවීමේ අරමුණින් මෙම පාඨමාලාව පවත්වන ලදී. ඒ සඳහා ජපාන ජාත්‍යන්තර සහයෝගිතා ඒජන්සියේ උපදේශකවරුන් විසින් ශ්‍රී ලංකා වෙරළාරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව නියෝජනය කරමින් සහභාගී වූ පුද්ගලයන් දහසය (16) දෙනෙකු වෙත සිය දැනුම හා විශේෂඥතාව හුවමාරු කර ගන්නා ලදී. එමඟින් සමුද්‍රීය නීති බලාත්මක කිරීමේ ක්‍රියාපටිපාටි පිළිබඳ ඔවුන්ගේ අවබෝධය තවදුරටත් වර්ධනය කර ගැනීම සඳහා වටිනා අවස්ථාවක් උදා විය.
මෙම පුහුණු වැඩසටහනට සමගාමීව, 2026 ඔක්තෝබර් මස 27 සහ 29 යන දිනයන්හිදී දික්ඕවිට වරාය ආසන්න මුහුදේදී ප්‍රායෝගික අභ්‍යාස පවත්වන ලදී. එමගින්, සහභාගී වූවන්ට සමුද්‍රීය නීති බලාත්මක කිරීමේ මෙහෙයුම් සම්බන්ධයෙන් ප්‍රායෝගික අත්දැකීම් ලබා ගැනීමටත්, පාඨමාලාව තුළින් ලබාගත් දැනුම සැබෑ මෙහෙයුම් පරිසරයකදී ප්‍රායෝගිකව යොදා ගැනීමටත් අවස්ථාව සැලසුණි.
මෙම පාඨමාලාව සාර්ථකව අවසන් කිරීම තුළින් ජාත්‍යන්තර සහයෝගීතාව සහ දැනුම හුවමාරු කර ගැනීමේ වැඩසටහන් ඔස්සේ වෙරළාරක්ෂක පුද්ගලයන්ගේ වෘත්තීය නිපුණතාව සහ මෙහෙයුම් සූදානම ඉහළ නැංවීම සඳහා ශ්‍රී ලංකා වෙරළාරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව දක්වන අඛණ්ඩ කැපවීම මනාව පිළිබිඹු වේ. තවද, JICA ආයතනය සහ ජපාන වෙරළාරක්ෂක බලකාය සමඟ පවත්වනු ලබන මෙම සහයෝගීතාව තුළින් සමුද්‍රීය නීති බලාත්මක කිරීමේ හැකියාවන් සංවර්ධනය කිරීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් දෙරට අතර පවතින සහයෝගීතා සබඳතාව තවදුරටත් ශක්තිමත් වේ.
