SRI LANKA COAST GUARD REACHES 200 LIFE RESCUES IN 2023
Sri Lanka Coast Guard contributed to save 200 invaluable human lives in this year with a life rescue of 27 years old youth by the lifesavers of Goplapuram Lifesaving Post in Trincomalee on 18th September 2023.
SRI LANKA COAST GUARD RESCUED A RUSSIAN NATIONAL IN THE HIKKADUWA SEA
Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers at the Hikkaduwa lifesaving post successfully rescued a Russian nationality from drowning while bathing at the Hikkaduwa beach. The 57-year-old woman was submerged and carried away by ocean currents.
The Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers rescued two local males from drowning at Galle Face and Mirissa beaches on 09th September 2023. The first incident involved a 20 years old boy who was saved from strong sea currents at Galle Face beach in Colombo.

The 19th Heads of Asian Coast Guard Agencies Meeting (HACGAM) unfolded in Istanbul, Turkey, from 5th to 8th September, 2023, hosting top brass from coast guard agencies across Asia, Hong Kong, and representatives from two international organisations, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP).

SRI LANKA COAST GUARD APPREHENDED A FISHING VESSEL WITH ILLEGALLY HARVESTED CUT SHARK FINS
Sri Lanka Coast Guard personnel deployed at Galle Fishery Harbour for fishery monitoring and regulating duties apprehended a Multiday fishing vessel along with 07 fishermen in possession of illegally harvest cut shark fins on 29th August 2023.
On 27th August 2023, Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers stationed at Mount Lavinia Lifesaving Post successfully rescued an individual who was in distress and at risk of drowning.
