LIFE-SAVING TRAINING SCHOOL ADMITTED ANOTHER MOMENTOUS TRAINING
A special lifeguard Basic training course was commenced under the directives of the Director General Sri Lanka Coast Guard to officials of the Department of Wildlife Conservation (DWC) on 08th May 2023.
COAST GUARD RETRIEVED SEA TURTLE EGGS AND RELEASED NEWLY HATCHED TURTLES INTO THE SEA
The 19th Coast Guard personnel stationed at the life-saving post, Mirissa retrieved 202 sea turtles’ eggs from the territory close to their natural habitats on 05th May 2023.
SUCCESSFUL CONCLUSION OF THE WORKING LEVEL MEETING AT THE 19TH HEAD OF ASIAN COAST GUARD AGENCIES MEETING (HACGAM)
The 19th Head of Asian Coast Guards Working Level Meetings (WLMs) took place virtually from 3rd to 5th May 2023 in discussing maritime issues in the five areas of Search and Rescue at Sea, Preventing & Controlling Unlawful Acts at Sea, Environment Protection, Capacity Building, and Information Sharing. The virtual meeting was hosted by the Turkiye Coast Guard in cooperation with the Japan Coast Guard.
COAST GUARD SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE FIRST COMBINED MARITIME LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING MODULE-2023
Twenty-four coast guard personnel completed the first combined maritime law enforcement training module for the academic year 2023 on 03 April 2023 at Advanced Training Centre (ATC), Kirinda.

Coast Guard personnel stationed at the life-saving post, Mirissa retrieved 78 sea turtles’ eggs from the territory close to their natural habitats on 30th April 2023.
MEETING WITH US COAST GUARD LEGAL EXPERTS IN SCRUTINIZING SLCG LEGAL FRAMEWORK
On April 26, 2023, the United States Coast Guard and Defense Institute of International Legal Studies (DIILS) members met with the Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) officials to examine the SLCG Act, operating legislation, and maritime law enforcement manual.

Through the cumulative cooperation of Coast Guard personnel stationed at life-saving posts Mirissa, and Hikkaduwa retrieved 1139 sea turtles’ eggs from the territory close to their natural habitats from 17 to 23 April 2023.
FOUR FOREIGNERS WERE RESCUED FROM DROWNING BY THE COAST GUARD ON the 19th and 21st of APRIL
On 19thApril 2023, the father (32 Years), mother (29 Years) and two years old kid from England were saved from drowning and being carried away by currents at Hikkaduwa beach by the Lifeguards attached to the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving post.
TWO FOREIGNERS WERE RESCUED FROM DROWNING BY THE COAST GUARD
On 17th April 2023, two 25-year-old Russian females were saved from drowning and being carried away by currents at Mirissa public beach by the Lifeguards attached to the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving post.
