SRI LANKA COAST GUARD COMMENCED THE FIRST WORKING DAY OF 2023 WITH THE PUBLIC SERVANTS’ OATH
A ceremony to mark the commencement of the first working day in the New Year 2023 and reading the Oath of Public Servants was held under the auspices of the Director General of Sri Lanka Coast Guard, Rear Admiral Pujitha Vithana at the Coast Guard Headquarters, Mirissa on 02nd January 2023.
THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF THE SRI LANKA COAST GUARD AWARDED LETTERS OF COMMENDATION TO COAST GUARD LIFESAVERS
The Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Rear Admiral Pujitha Vithana awarded Letters of Commendation to Coast Guard lifesavers in recognition of their exceptional performance in rescuing civilian lives endangered due to drowning in an exemplary manner, whilst performing duties as active lifesavers during the period under review from 01st January to 11th November 2022.
The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving Post Pasikuda public beach saved a local during a successful rescue attempt on 01st January 2023.
The collective effort of Coast Guard personnel attached to Life-Saving Posts Mirissa, Hikkaduwa, Unawatuna, Wellawaththa, and Mount Lavinia recovered 1084 numbers of a Sea turtle eggs from places close to their natural habitat during the period from 25th to 31st December 2022.
YEAR-END CELEBRATIONS WERE ORGANIZED BY THE SRI LANKA COAST GUARD
Sri Lanka Coast Guard organized various activities for the year-end celebrations under the guidance of the Director General Sri Lanka Coast Guard Rear Admiral Pujitha Vithana at the Coast Guard Headquarters, Mirissa on the 31st December 2022.
DIRECTOR GENERAL COAST GUARD VISITED COAST GUARD NORTHERN REGION
Embarking on an official visit to the Coast Guard Northern Region, the Director General Coast Guard, Rear Admiral Pujitha Vithana looked into the operational readiness and administrative functions of the Coast Guard Northern Region on 29th and 30th December 2022.
The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving Post Panadura beach saved a local during a successful rescue attempt on 30th December 2022.
AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON OIL SPILL MANAGEMENT CONDUCTED IN TRINCOMALEE HARBOUR
Three days awareness programme for Sri Lanka Coast Guard personnel attached to Eastern Region and Fast Patrol Boats was successfully conducted from 27th to 29th December 2022 with the aim of improving subject knowledge under the supervision /guidance of the Regional Director Eastern Region.
COAST GUARD RESCUED A LOCAL AND A FOREIGNER FROM DROWNING
The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving Post Mirissa beach saved a local and a foreigner during a successful rescue attempt on 28th December 2022.
