THE JAPANESE AMBASSADOR TO SRI LANKA GRACED THE HANDING OVER CEREMONY OF RHIB FOR THE SRI LANKA COAST GUARD
As a part of continuous capacity improvement support, the Global Maritime Crime Programme (GMCP) of United Nations Office On Drugs and Crime (UNODC) initiated donation of a Rigid Hulled Inflatable Boat (RHIB) to the Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG). The collaboration of SLCG and UNODC was grown in the recent past and conducted number of local and regional training activities successfully.
A REGIONAL TRAINING MODULE CONCLUDED AT SLCG ASSISTING TO ENHANCE REGIONAL CAPACITY BUILDING TRAINING
The closing ceremony of Visit, Board Search and Seizure (VBSS) course for Boarding Teams and VBSS Advanced course were conducted by the Global Maritime Crime Programme (GMCP) of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and assisted by United State Embassy in Sri Lanka. At the closing ceremony, 08 Officers from Bangladesh Coast Guard, 03 Officers, and 05 sailors from Sri Lanka Coast Guard were awarded certificates.
SRI LANKA COAST GUARD HOLDS COORDINATING MEETING ON DRUG TRAFFICKING AT SEA IN SRI LANKA AND BANGLADESH
A delegation of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) led by Mr. Alan Cole, head of the Global Maritime Crime Programme (GMCP) and a delegation from Bangladesh led by Mr. GSM Jafar Ullah, Additional Secretary, Public Security Division, Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) visited CGHQ Mirissa on 25th November 2021. The purpose of the visit is to hold a coordination meeting on drug trafficking at sea in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
SLCGS SURAKSHA TAKES PART IN EXERCISE ‘DOSTI-XV’ IN MALE’, MALDIVES
The Maldives-India-Sri Lanka Coast Guard Trilateral Joint exercise DOSTI hosted by Maldives Coast Guard formally commenced at Male’ in Maldives on 20th November 2021. Representing Sri Lanka Coast Guard at this tri lateral joint exercise, Sri Lanka Coast Guard Ship (SLCGS) Suraksha took part in the 15th edition of DOSTI this year.
COAST GUARD RESCUED A LOCAL DROWNING MALE AT PANADURA BEACH
The Life Savers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Life Saving Post, at Panadura had rescued a 17 years old male resident of Piliyandala, during a successful rescue mission on 21st November 2021.

The Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard, Rear Admiral Anura Ekanayake, who is on an official visit to the Maldives, paid a courtesy call on the Acting High Commissioner His Excellency D Amanulla at the Sri Lankan High Commission in Male’, Maldives on 20>th November 2021.
COAST GUARD LIFE SAVERS RESCUED A FOREIGNER AND THREE LOCALS FROM DROWNING IN TWO SUCCESSFUL RESCUE ATTEMPTS
The Life Savers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Life Saving Posts, at Benthota and Sri Lanka Coast Guard Life Saving Training School (LSTS), at Balapitiya had rescued a foreigner and three local tourists during two successful rescue attempts on 20th November 2021.

United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC) sponsored Vessel Board Search and Seizure (VBSS) Instructor training programme was successfully completed on 18th November 2021. The training programme was conducted at Weligambay Villas Hotel, Mirissa by Advanced Training Centre of SLCG with the assistance of UNODC..
