MARITIME VESSEL SEARCH TRAINING COURSE AT ATC

Maritime Vessel Search Training course was conducted by the Australian Boarder Force (ABF) for the third time at Advanced Training Center (ATC) of Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) Mirissa from 14th to 17th May 2018. Twenty participants from SLCG, Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) and Special Task Force (STF) were participated in this course. Australian High Commission facilitated the course.

BLOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN AT SRI LANKA COAST GUARD WARUNA

Blood Donation Campaign was arranged at Sri Lanka Coast Guard Waruna on 16th May 2018 in view of Vesak Poyaday celebration. The event was organized with the help of National Blood Transfusion Service, Narahenpita and 95 Sri Lanka Coast Guard officers and sailors donated blood during the campaign.

REPATRIATION OF SRI LANKAN FISHERMEN

Five Sri Lankan fishermen were handed over to Sri Lanka Coast Guard by Indian Coast Guard on 15th May 2018.Indian Coast Guard ship ICG Imeya and Sri Lanka Coast Guard Fast Patrol Boat CG 402 engaged in repatriation operation and all fishermen were handed over to Fishery Inspector of Department of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources at Kankasanthurei.Fishermen were taken in to custody by Indian Coast Guard on 12th March 2018 with boat (IMUL-A-0450 TLE) while engage in fishing in Indian waters approximately 53 NM from Point Calimere.

DIRECTOR GENERAL INDIAN COAST GUARD ON AN OFFICIAL VISIT TO SRI LANKA

Director General Rajendra Singh, Director General of the Indian Coast Guard arrive Sri Lanka on 8th May 2018 on an official visit. During his visit he participated to 3rd High Level Meeting between Sri Lanka Coast Guard and the Indian Coast Guard which was held on 9thMay 2018 at Light House Galley in Colombo. Director General Rajendra Singh, Director General of the Indian Coast Guard and Rear Admiral Samantha Wimalathunge, Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard headed two delegations at the meeting. Meeting was conducted in a friendly environment and many issues related to fishermen, security, capacity building, cooperation, sharing of information, and participation in bi/multi lateral exercises, were discussed at the meeting.

SLCG LIFESAVERS MARKED THEIR EXCELLENCE BY RESCUING 1000 LIVES AT SEA

Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers proved their capability and excellence by saving 1000 lives since its inception in 2009. SLCG passed this mile stone on 17thApril 2018 when lifesavers attached to Hikkaduwa lifesaving post rescued three Sri Lankan youths in the age of 19 to 21 years who are from Veyangoda, Pasyala and Yakkala area.
