COAST GUARD RESCUED FOUR FOREIGNERS AT RISK OF DROWNING
The Life Savers attached to Coast Guard Life Saving Post, Benthota rescued four Kazakhstan nationals, during successful rescue attempts on 11th February 2022. Three Kazakhstan males and a female were rescued whilst drowning and dragging away by currents near Benthota beach.

The Director General-Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) Rear Admiral Anura Ekanayake welcomed the delegation from Australian Border Force (ABF) at the Coast Guard Headquarters, Mirissa on 15th February 2022 and appreciated their visit all the way to Mirissa.

SRI LANKA COAST GUARD APPREHENDED A FISHING VESSEL WITH ILLEGALLY HARVESTED DRIED SHARK FINS
Sri Lanka Coast Guard personnel deployed at Beruwala Fishery Harbour for fishery monitoring and regulating duties apprehended a Multiday Fishing Vessel along with seven fishermen in possession of illegally harvested dried Shark fins on 10th February 2022.

Rear Admiral Sajith Gamage, who was recently assumed duties in his office as the Commander Southern Naval Area, paid a courtesy call on the Director General of Sri Lanka Coast Guard, Rear Admiral Anura Ekanayake on 08th February 2022 at Sri Lanka Coast Guard Headquarters, Mirissa.

The Life Savers attached to Coast Guard Life Saving Post, Benthota rescued two foreigners, during successful rescue attempts on 05th February 2022. A 31 years old lady from Bahrain and a 32 years old lady from Serbia were rescued whilst drowning and dragging away by currents near Benthota beach.
Sri Lanka Coast Guard proudly took part in the 74th Independence Day celebrations held at Independence Square, Colombo with great pride on 04th February 2022 for the first time in history. This prestigious event was graced by the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa, as the Chief Guest.
SLCG INITIATED CONTRIBUTION TO THE NATIONAL ECONOMY
Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) took a step to train lifesavers with the aim of contributing to the country’s economy under the direction of Director General Sri Lanka Coast Guard. The concept of ‘Sports Economy Promotion’ brought out by the Minister of Sport and Department of Sports Development, Sports Medical Unit National Youth Crops jointly collaborated with SLCG to initiate this training.
