The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving Post Benthota public beach saved two locals during a successful rescue attempt on 29th May 2023. At the Benthota public beach, two local males aged 15 years’ old who were at risk of drowning and being pulled away by currents were rescued by the Coast Guard rescuers stationed at the lifesaving post.

COAST GUARD RELEASED NEWLY HATCHED TURTLES INTO THE SEA

SLCG has released 716 numbers of newly hatched sea turtles into the sea from Hikkaduwa, Mirissa, Moragalla, and Mount Lavinia beaches during the period from 15-21 May 2023. These turtles are released to the sea where retrieved eggs are conserved near lifesaving posts close to the natural habitat of the turtles.
