Sri Lanka Coast Guard rendered assistance to bring ashore an ill fisherman and transferred him to the hospital for treatment on the night of 16th January 2023. The fisherman was suffering from chest pain while aboard a local multiday fishing vessel that was operating off the Beruwala area.
p align="justify">The collective effort of Coast Guard personnel attached to Life-Saving Posts Mirissa and Hikkaduwa recovered 1149 numbers of a Sea turtle eggs from places close to their natural habitat during the period from 08th to 14th January 2023. Meanwhile, the SLCG released 197 sea turtle hatchlings into the sea from Mirissa and Hikkaduwa during the same period.

The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving Post Balapitiya public beach saved a foreigner during a successful rescue attempt on 10th January 2023.
The collective effort of Coast Guard personnel attached to Life-Saving Posts Mirissa, Hikkaduwa, Unawatuna, Wellawaththa, Mount Lavinia and Panadura recovered 1743 numbers of a Sea turtle eggs from places close to their natural habitat during the period from 01st to 07th January 2023. Recovered eggs being conserved at the locations near respective lifesaving posts.

The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving Posts Balapitiya and Hikkaduwa beaches saved a foreigner and three locals during a successful rescue attempt on 06th January 2023.

Sri Lanka Coast Guard personnel deployed at Negombo and Beruwala Fishery Harbour for fishery monitoring and regulating duties arrested two Multiday Fishing Trawlers along with 14 fishermen in possession of illegally harvested Shark fins and shark fish on 05th January 2023.
Sri Lanka Coast Guard intelligence personnel attached to the Coast Guard Station Kirinda conducted a local cannabis raid in the Lunugamwehera and Indipitiya areas with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Police Narcotic Bureau staff of Embilipitiya police on 04th January 2023.

THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF THE SRI LANKA COAST GUARD AWARDED LETTERS OF COMMENDATION TO COAST GUARD LIFESAVERS
The Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Rear Admiral Pujitha Vithana awarded Letters of Commendation to Coast Guard lifesavers in recognition of their exceptional performance in rescuing civilian lives endangered due to drowning in an exemplary manner, whilst performing duties as active lifesavers during the period under review from 01st January to 11th November 2022.
