On 14th August 2024, a significant milestone was achieved in the history of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard with the official handover of All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) from the Joint Agency Task Force (JATF) - Operation Sovereign Borders (OSB), Australia.

SLCGS Suraksha conducted a special search operation on 09th August 2024 and apprehended approx 2068 kg Kendu leaves with 03 FGDs and 06 suspects in off Uchchamuniya, Kalpitiya sea area as per the information given by SLN.
Sri Lanka Coast Guard Seizes Four Numbers of Indian Dhows upon Poaching
A successful operation lead by Sri Lanka Coast Guard Ship Suraksha resulted in apprehended of 4 Indian dhows with 35 Indian fishermen involved in illegal fishing in Sri Lankan waters. This special operation took place in off Kudiramalei Point in Kalpitiya sea on 08th of August 2024.
COAST GUARD STATION CHILAW SEIZES 642KG OF KENDU LEAVES IN COORDINATED OPERATION
Based on information revealed intelligence staff of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Station Chilaw arrested a suspect in possession of a large quantity of Kendu leaves in a successful operation carried out on 07th August 2024.
DRIED SHARK FISH ALONG WITH FINS APPREHENDED AT DIKOVITA HARBOUR
On the 06th August 2024, Coast Guard personnel attached to FMP Dikovita arrested/apprehended six fishermen who were found in possession of 34.9 kg of dried shark fish and fin onboard the fishing vessel IMUL-A-0467-CHW. The arrest took place during routine arrival formalities, showcasing the Coast Guard’s dedication to uphold maritime law enforcement and protecting endangered marine species.
Coast Guard Seizes 02 Indian Trawlers Poaching in Sri Lankan Waters
Sri Lanka Coast Guard Ship Suraksha conducted a special operation to chase away Indian trawlers poaching in Sri Lankan waters on 05th of August 2024. The operation led to seizure 02 Indian trawlers and apprehend 22 Indian fishermen poaching in Sri Lankan waters off Kudiramalei Point in Kalpitiya sea area.
SLCG ARRESTED TEN FISHERMEN ENGAGING IN ILLEGAL FISHING PRACTICES
Sri Lanka Coast Guard Inshore Patrol Craft deployed off Trincomalee area on patrolling arrested and apprehended 10 No’s of fishermen along with 02 No’s of FGDs while engaging in illegal fishing on 28th July 2024.

Acting on intelligence received, Coast Guard personnel attached to Coast Guard Sub Station (CGSS) Negombo in conjunction with Naval intelligence staff from SLNS Kelani apprehended an individual in possession of a substantial quantity of Thresher Shark meat.

In a significant combined operation carried out by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Station Chilaw & Marawila Police, 975 Kilograms of Kendu leaves were apprehended during the early morning hours approximately 0145 hrs on 23rd July 2024.
