SLN handed over CG405 to Sri Lanka Coast Guard on Completion of major refit at Northern Naval Command
Sri Lanka Navy ceremonially handed over CG405 Fast Patrol Boat to the Sri Lanka Coast Guard on completion of Major refit at the PH bay pier, Northern Naval Command, Kankesanthurai on 16th June 2021.
SRI LANKA COAST GUARD RECOVERED A HAUL OF KERALA CANNABIS
Sri Lanka Coast Guard Fast Patrol Boat CG 402 recovered a haul of Kerala cannabis weighing over 175.25 kg, in the seas North of Point Pedro, Jaffna, on 14th June 2021 in a joint operation with Sri Lanka Navy.
A joint operation conducted by the SLCG in coordination with SLN in the coastal area of Polwathumodara, Weligama, led to the seizure of over 219kg of heroin attempted to be smuggled into the island by sea around 2230 hrs on 12th June 2021.
SLCG fleet consists of two Fast Patrol Vessels (FPV) SLCGS Samudra Raksha and SLCGS Samaraksha donated by the Government of Japan under maritime capability improvement project. Both FPVs are equipped with limited oil spill response capabilities for recovery and dispersing oil spills.
SLCG FACILITATES A JET SKI OPERATOR TRAINING FOR LIFEGUARDS
Sri Lanka Coast Guard Training Directorate arranged a Jet Ski operator training programme for SLCG lifesavers. The programme was conducted at Life Saving Training School (LSTS) Balapitiya on 8th and 9th June 2021.
SRI LANKA COAST GUARD APPREHENDED A FISHING VESSEL WITH ILLEGALLY HARVESTED SHARK FINS
Sri Lanka Coast Guard personnel deployed at Cod bay Fishery Harbour in Trincomalee for fishery monitoring and regulating duties apprehended Multiday Fishing Vessel along with six fishermen in possession of illegally harvested Shark fins and dried Shark flesh on 09th June 2021.
ARMY AND AIR FORCE PERSONNEL COMPLETED BASIC LIFE SAVING TRAINING COURSE AT SLCG LIFE SAVING TRAINING SCHOOL
The Life Saving Training School Balapitiya of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard successfully concluded Basic Lifesaving training for nine Airmen and four Army personnel from 31st May to 04th June 2021.

SRI LANKA COAST GUARD APPREHENDED TWO FISHING VESSELS WITH ILLEGALLY HARVESTED SHARK FINS
Sri Lanka Coast Guard personnel deployed at Dikovita Fishery Harbour for fishery monitoring and regulating duties, apprehended two Multiday Fishing Vessel along with 13 fishermen in possession of illegally harvested 41 numbers of Blue Shark fins on 29th May 2021.
Maritime Safety and Marine Environment Protection are major roles entrusted with Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) among its extensive service as a law enforcement authority at sea. Since the fire erupted, onboard MV XPRESS PEARL, SLCG is actively engaged with fire fighting efforts and to minimize impact on marine environment of Sri Lanka.
