SRI LANKA COAST GUARD APPREHENDED A FISHING VESSEL WHILE TRANSFERRING A DEAD WHALE

SLCG personnel attached to Chilaw Fishery Harbour apprehended 3 fishermen and a Fiber Glass Dinghy (FGD) while transferring a dead whale on 01st February 2021.The particular factum is an offence under the Fauna and Flora Protected Ordinance Chapter 469 Section 30.

The lifesavers of Sri Lanka Coast Guard rescued a 30 year old local male whilst drowning at Mirissa beach on 10th January 2021. The prompt response by Coast Guard life savers help out to save the life of the rescuee.

SRI LANKA COAST GUARD APPREHENDED A MULTIDAY FISHING VESSEL WITH ILLEGALLY HARVESTED SHARK FINS

Sri Lanka Coast Guard personnel attached at Cod bay fishery harbour, Trincomalee for fishery monitoring and regulating duties, apprehended a Multiday Fishing Vessel along with five fishermen in possession of illegally harvested 25 No’s (Approx. 900 g) of dried shark fins and dried shark flesh (Approx. 28.4 kg) on 05^th January 2021.

SLCG COLLECTS APROX 550,000 PLASTIC BOTTLES FROM MULTIDAY FISHING VESSELS AS A CSR PROJECT IN 2O2O

Sri Lanka Coast Guard fishing monitoring units established at 24 major fishery harbours, collected approx. 550,000 plastic water bottles from multiday fishing vessels during 2020 preventing plastic bottles thrown out to sea as marine litter.
