THE 15TH HEADS OF ASIAN COAST GUARD AGENCIES WORKING LEVEL MEETING COMMENCED
The 15th Heads of Asian Coast Guard Agencies Working Level Meeting was ceremonially inaugurated on 09th July 2019 at Hilton Hotel, Colombo. The occasion was graced by the State Minister of Defence Hon Ruwan Wijewardana as the Chief Guest on the invitation of Director General of Sri Lanka Coast Guard Rear Admiral Samantha Wimalathunge, RWP, VSV, USP, nswc, MSc (DS) Mgt and there are 42 delegates from 22 countries participating for this important event for the next two days.

The Vice Commandant of Japan Coast Guard Vice Admiral Katsuyuki ICHIMI who is on an official visit to Sri Lanka paid a courtesy call on Rear Admiral Samantha Wimalathunge, RWP, VSV, USP, nswc Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard on 01st July 2019 at Sri Lanka Coast Guard Rear Headquarters, Wellawatte.
SRI LANKA COAST GUARD TO HOST 15TH HEADS OF ASIAN COAST GUARD AGENCIES MEETING (HACGAM) IN COLOMBO FOR THE FIRST TIME
Sri Lanka Coast Guard which is functioning under the Ministry of Defence hosts this year’s two major events of Asian Coastguard Agencies; the Working Level Meeting (WLM) and the High-Level Meeting (HLM) of the 15thHeads of Asian Coast Guard Agencies Meeting (HACGAM) scheduled from 08th to 11thJuly and 07th to 10th October this year respectively in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It is the first time Sri Lanka Coast Guard hosting this multilateralmeeting and expecting participants from 22 member countries including one associate member and two observer organizations for the HACGAM.
NINE FISHERMEN APPREHENDED FOR ENGAGED IN ILLEGAL FISHING
SLCG personnel deployed at Coast Guard Station Point Pedro arrested/ apprehended nine fishermen along with three Dinghies engaged in harvesting Sea Cucumbers (approx 500 Kgs) without Fishing License off Point Pedro.
REGIONAL MARITIME LAW ENFORCEMENT INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT COURSE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED AT ATC MIRISSA
The Regional Maritime Law Enforcement (RMLE) Instructor Development Course – Phase I successfully completed today at Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) Advanced Training Center (ATC), Mirissa. There were twenty seven (27) participants for the two (02) weeks course from regional law enforcement agencies namely Bangladesh, Maldives and Sri Lanka and course was conducted by four (04) instructors each from US Coast Guard International Division’s Mobile Training Branch and SLCG. The course was sponsored by the Export and Related Border Security (EXBS) programme of US Embassy.
‘RATA WENUWEN EKATA SITIMU’ NATIONAL PROGRAMME-MULATIVE DISTRICT
The national development programme ‘Rata Wenuwen Ekata Situmu’ programme implemented under the directive of the President secretariat is being carried out from 3rd to 8th June in Mulative District.
INDIAN COAST GUARD SHIP ‘SANKALP’ ARRIVES AT PORT OF GALLE
The Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) ‘Sankalp’ arrived at the port of Galle on 31st May 2019 on a logistic/good will visit. The ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard in accordance with traditions on its arrival.
